Troubleshooting group brew pressure being too low when pulling a shot
Troubleshooting guide on how to address low brew pressure at the grouphead on an Ascaso Home espresso machine.
** To Start: Here's a video tutorial on making sure pressure is set in the correct range: Setting Pump Pressure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hfwOGjl3vw **
Once pressure is set correctly, if we're seeing low pressure when pulling a shot, we need to change what's in the portafilter basket so that there's more resistance to the water that flows from the group head.
Grind size: If you are using an espresso grinder, adjust the grind size finer. (If you are using pre-ground coffee or a grinder that is not designed for espresso, try using the pressurized aka "super crema" portafilter baskets. Grinders that are not designed specifically for espresso are typically not able to achieve fine and consistent enough grinds for good espresso output.)
Input dose: Using a gram scale (i.e. Acaia) is highly important for being able to make accurate input dose adjustments. If you are using the double basket, start with an input dose of 14 grams, and increase incrementally (one gram at a time) from there until you see the espresso output change.
Very small adjustments to grind size and input dose will have a significant effect on the espresso output.
